Czenglish: There was a big action near my flat last night. It was loud so I didn’t sleep well.
English: There was a big event near your flat last night.

Czenglish: There was an action so I bought something.
English: There was a sale so you bought something.

Be careful how you translate ‘akce‘. In English the word ‘action’ relates only to movements or behaviour. For example, ‘his actions led to his dismissal’.

Movie directors also shout ‘action!’ to signal a scene is starting.
