Czenglish: Can you borrow me a pen?
English:
No. I can lend you a pen though.
Czenglish: Ugh, lend and borrow are so confusing… What’s the difference? This might be the most common mixup in all of Czenglish. Try to remember the prepositions that go with these two words. So, ‘lend to’ and ‘borrow from’.
The bank lends you money (it lends money to you). You borrow money from the bank.
To lend is to give.
To borrow is to take.
